"At the end" ou "In the end"?

            A comunicação oral ou escrita sempre exigirá um desfecho para que o interlocutor entenda que a mesma está em sua parte final. Nesse ponto surge uma grande questão: qual termo usar “At the end” ou “In the end”? Para dirimir suas dúvidas segue um esclarecimento sobre essa dúvida cruel:  

“At the end” pode indicar a parte final de um ponto físico, como por exemplo no final da rua, “At the end of his street”, ou ainda ter uma conotação metafórica, tal como no final do livro, “at the end of the book”. Importante ressaltar que essa expressão também determina o ponto final de um determinado período. Exemplos:

            At the end of the film she cried a lot

            I spent hours reading that book, at the end of it the murder flees.

            The weather forecast said that at the end of the weekend there will be rain.

            Por outro lado, “in the end” tem o sentido de “finalmente”. Observe:

            Charles kept on asking his father a bike, in the end, he gave him a new one.

            The costumer complained about the product’s quality, in the end, it was offered to him another one.
